Man United must take stubborn Rasmus Hojlund stance after £172m AC Milan injection

Rasmus Hojlund is one of five players that Manchester United are hoping to sell before the end of the summer transfer window.

Ineos still have plenty of work to do this summer with under two weeks to go until the window slams shut.

Manchester United have spent close to £200m on four major signings and more could yet arrive, but the Red Devils also need to focus on outgoings in the next few days.

AC Milan have confirmed interest in Rasmus Hojlund this summer. The Danish striker was left out of United’s defeat to Arsenal over the weekend, with Ruben Amorim preferring to name Joshua Zirkzee and Benjamin Sesko in his squad.

Hojlund has said he wants to stay, but having tumbled down the pecking order at Old Trafford his only chance to play regular football is to accept a move elsewhere.

Man United must stick to Rasmus Hojlund asking price

Reports suggest United could earn £44m from Hojlund, with Milan discussing an initial loan deal with a buy option.

More United News

If there were any doubts about Milan’s ability to afford Rasmus Hojlund this summer, their transfer activity so far tells the full story.

As per TuttoMercatoWeb, Milan are approaching €200 million (£172 million) from transfers, bonuses, and potential buy-outs.

They have undergone a complete rebuild with as many as 23 players leaving the Italian giants this summer.

Hojlund has the chance to be Milan’s main striker in a new-look side, but United should not budge from their asking price with the knowledge that they have money to spend.

A bitter ending for Rasmus Hojlund at Man United

United knew they were taking a risk when Hojlund was signed for £64m from Atalanta.

But he was a promising, young striker, and Hojlund is also a boyhood United fan. It explains why he is reluctant to leave Old Trafford this summer, and it is a shame that a player with a deep connection to the Red Devils didn’t succeed.

Ultimately, Hojlund’s performances last season were not up to scratch and Ineos and Amorim have to be ruthless in their rebuild at Old Trafford.

Hojlund deserves credit for the way he has handled his United struggles. He has never complained or taken any swipes at the club. He has always remained respectful and that will earn him adoration from the fanbase.

But Sesko’s arrival marks the start of a new, exciting attack for United and there is simply no space for Hojlund in Amorim’s plans.
