Following his contract termination with West Ham, Brazilian defender Luizão is once again in talks with Fortaleza, who are working to bring him in as a free agent.
[We reported earlier that](https://sportwitness.co.uk/west-ham-player-heading-for-brazil-return-hammers-agree-to-let-him-go/) Sport Recife are also monitoring Luizão closely. Now, with Fortaleza joining the race again, seems like there’s a growing regional interest in securing his signature.
[According to Agência RTI Esporte](https://rtiesporte.com.br/fortaleza-abre-negociacoes-por-luizao-zagueiro-do-west-ham-saiba-detalhes/), the 22-year-old has already given the green light for the club to present an official offer, and discussions are underway with his camp to find numbers that fit within the club’s financial limits.
With his West Ham contract originally set to run until June 2026, the amicable termination has now opened the door for a return to Brazil.
Fortaleza CEO Marcelo Paz is reportedly pushing for the deal, especially as the club looks to rebuild following their Copa Libertadores exit.
Talks are being led with Giuliano Bertolucci, the player’s agent, and the project is said to appeal to Luizão, who views it as a good opportunity to get his career back on track with regular minutes.
Local reports claim manager Renato Paiva has approved the move, and the defender is being treated internally as an excellent market opportunity for the club’s back line.
