Manchester United haven’t been able to count on much these past five years, but one ever present piece of greatness is Bruno Fernandes.
Since joining in 2020, Manchester United have seen Bruno Fernandes evolve into a legend of the club with his wonderful talent and character fitting perfectly.
United have paid a total of £55m for Fernandes so far which looks like a complete bargain after 98 goals, 86 assists and 291 appearances in the five and a half years since he joined.
Fernandes should hit his 100th goal for United during 2025/26, needing just two, and entering this select group would be a massive indication of the quality the Portuguese star has.
In 2020, Diogo Dalot predicted that Fernandes would become a legend, now five years on, and four player of the year awards for Fernandes, it is safe to say that the club captain is on the edge of being considered an icon.
This season, Fernandes is in a brand new role within the team, but is still maintaining his world class levels.

Bruno Fernandes leads the Premier League for creativity this season
United have signed two of the Premier League’s best number 10s this summer in the form of Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, which has pushed Fernandes back into the centre of midfield.
This moves Fernandes away from a position which he has finished with the most chances created in four of the last five Premier League seasons – including the 2024/25 season when he created 91 chances.

There have been questions over Fernandes’ best role under Amorim, but he has answered all of these doubts on gameweek one of the 2025/26 season.
Against Arsenal, Fernandes created 12 shots and made five key passes according to FBRef which ranks him top of the charts so far this season.

Bruno Fernandes could be set for a mammoth season with Manchester United
Fernandes created five chances for United against Arsenal, which came against one of the league’s best defences and title favourites.
So over the course of a campaign, this would be 190 chances, which surely would result in the United midfielder breaking every assist record possible.
Fernandes just needs his teammates to convert and put away the many chances that he is going to lay on a plate for them.
Against Fulham this weekend, it is unlikely they will be able to prevent United from scoring given how deadly the Red Devils looked against Arsenal.
