John Wall Makes Major Career Decision

John Wall spent 11 seasons in the NBA, becoming an All-Star five times and leading the Washington Wizards for years.

But now his time in the league has come to an end, and Wall announced his retirement from the sport.

In a video posted to social media, Wall talked about his love of the game and the people who helped him become a professional basketball player.

“I’ve been chasing the ball since I could barely walk. Driveways, parks, packed gyms, 5 A.M. workouts. I gave this game everything I had from Raleigh to Kentucky to the league. Every jersey I’ve worn meant more than just wins and stats. It was about representing something bigger. And it’s something I couldn’t do without you. To my family, my mom especially, thank you for all your sacrifices. I hope I made you proud. To my teammates, trainers, and coaches, thank you for believing in me. And to the fans who made me feel unstoppable. Today, I’m stepping off the court, but not away from the game,” Wall said.

Wall was the first overall pick in the 2010 draft and immediately got to work with the Washington Wizards.

He was runner-up for Rookie of the Year and averaged 19.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 9.2 assists during his nine years in the league.

He was a cornerstone of the franchise, but sadly, the team was never able to move higher than the bottom of the Eastern Conference.

After the 2018-19 season, the team was ready for a change, and Wall left Washington.

He later joined the Houston Rockets but didn’t get as much time on the court and sat out for a whole season after that.

He would eventually make his way to the Los Angeles Clippers, but his minutes continued to decrease, and he averaged 11.4 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 5.2 assists during his one and only season with them.

Wall hasn’t played a game in the league since 2022-23, and most people weren’t surprised when he announced that the time had come to hang up his jersey for good.

During his prime, Wall was one of the toughest players in the league and made life difficult for some of the biggest superstars in the NBA.

He may have never reached the heights that some wanted for him, but Wall will always be viewed as a crucial part of this generation of basketball stars.
