**Newcastle United are still pursuing a deal for Brentford forward Yoane Wissa despite the Bees' insistence that they want £60 million for their star striker.**
Brentford signed Dango Ouattara from Bournemouth last week, which was expected to be the last domino to fall to allow Wissa to leave, but since then, Brentford have claimed that Ouattara is a replacement for Bryan Mbeumo, who joined Manchester United.
They also added another £10 million to their original £50 million asking price for Yoane Wissa who has downed tools and deleted any trace of Brentford from his Instagram.
Newcastle still remain keen despite all of this, and has made another bid according to Graeme Bailey.

Brentford have rejected a £40 million bid for Yoane Wissa

Bailey has told [Geordie Boot Boys](https://www.geordiebootboys.com/transfers/brentford-make-fresh-yoane-wissa-decision-after-newcastle-united-launch-40m-offer/) that Newcastle aren't giving up on Wissa despite their most recent £40 million bid being rejected.
> “Newcastle are not letting go of the Wissa situation.“They want him and have been confident about getting him. The situation has become a bit messy and complicated but Newcastle don’t think there is anything that can’t be worked through. The issues are really at the Brentford end.

> “Newcastle have got to £40million and believed that was a good offer. However, Brentford have turned it down.”
Brentford getting £40 million for a 29-year-old player in the last year of his contract looks like a good deal to us
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Newcastle remain confident, but our question is how much they are willing to pay? It feels to us that the £40 million bid was approaching the top end of what is reasonable.
Yes, Wissa scored 19 Premier League goals last season, and yes, he's Brentford's main striker. They won't want to let him go cheaply, but he's clearly angling to leave; he's told the club he won't play for them again, and most importantly, he's in the last year of his contract.
That's what separates his situation from the Alexander Isak case. Isak is still contracted for three years at Newcastle, and he's still at peak value and peak age. Wissa will be 29 years old in a couple of weeks, with a year left on his current deal. Brentford should be happy to get over £40 million for someone in that position.
Obviously, if we were Brentford fans, we wouldn't be saying that, so there's no need to come at us. We know the hypocrisy we speak.
