Report: Club make their pitch to sign Chelsea youngster handed senior debut by Enzo Maresca

Strasbourg could be set to make yet another raid on sister club Chelsea this summer.

Chelsea and Strasbourg are very closely linked, with both teams owned by BlueCo, so we’ve seen them conduct plenty of business together recently.

Strasbourg, who finished seventh in the French Ligue 1 last season, purchased Mathis Amougou from the Blues earlier this summer. In addition, Chelsea trio Mamadou Sarr, Mike Penders and Kendry Paez all completed season-long loan moves to Strasbourg.

Chelsea rate goalkeeper Penders extremely highly, so it will be interesting to see if this loan spell leads to an eventual breakthrough at Stamford Bridge.

Genesis Antwi linked with move to Strasbourg

According to BBC Sport, Strasbourg have pitched their project to Chelsea youngster Genesis Antwi.

The report claims that the 18-year-old academy prospect could end up joining the French outfit on a permanent deal this summer.

Antwi, who’s a product of the Chelsea academy, is a young talent with so much potential. The attack-minded right-back started and produced a brilliant assist as the Blues Under-21s side beat Manchester City on Monday in their opening Premier League 2 fixture of the season.

Back in September 2024, Antwi signed his first professional Chelsea contract. However, it now looks like he could be the latest Blues talent to join Liam Rosenior’s Strasborug side in France.

If Chelsea manage to include some sort of buy-back clause in the teenager’s deal, we would understand the deal.

Enzo Maresca gave Genesis Antwi his senior debut

Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca was keen to promote young talents from the academy last season, especially in the Conference League competition.

Antwi made his first-team debut on 13 March with a late cameo against Copenhagen in the Conference League Round of 16 second leg against Copenhagen. The full-back’s second and most recent competitive senior appearance came on 8 May when Chelsea beat Djurgarden in the Conference League semi-final second leg.

Chelsea supporters compared Antwi to Tino Livramento earlier this year, and the latter is an example of a Cobham graduate who’s achieved major success elsewhere.
