Crystal Palace unlikely to sign player – Bid rejected, club think they’ll get 2.5x more

Crystal Palace are unlikely to be able to sign Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge this summer, with the Belgian side absolutely uninterested in a sale.

That’s [according to Voetbal Nieuws](https://www.voetbalnieuws.be/news/853962/club-brugge-balanceert-op-een-bom-met-tzolis), who report that any offers from Crystal Palace are unlikely to be accepted.

They have already seen a €32m offer for the forward reject this summer and VN say that will continue to happen if Crystal Palace keep bidding.

As far as Brugge are concerned, the Greek international is staying at the club and the money isn’t of interest to them. They’re willing to risk playing the game of him picking up an injury or suffering a dip in form because there may be long-term gains.

They’re determined that they won’t sanction a lucrative transfer anywhere this summer. They’ve already turned down €32m, even though such sums don’t come around at the club every day.

In comparison, only Igor Thiago, Ardon Jashari and Charles de Ketelaere have left for bigger sums. They moved for €33m, €36m and €37.5m.

They’ve sent a clear message to Crystal Palace and others that Tzolis isn’t for sale. They want to build a team around him and aren’t interest in short-term gains. They believe that Tzolis’ cycle at the club isn’t over yet and there’s more development in line for him. That could lead to an even bigger sale in future.

In fact, they believe that the forward could earn 2.5x more than the €32m that Crystal Palace have offered this summer. That’s how much they think of him.

Fortunately for them Tzolis is happy at the club and has a deal until 2029 so isn’t pushing despite Premier League offers either. There is the risk it could go wrong but for now, it appears Crystal Palace would be wise to turn their attention elsewhere.
