Tottenham have been linked to signing Man City star Savinho this summer before the end of the transfer window.

Man City got off to a fantastic start in the Premier League, with a 4-0 win against Wolves in their opening game at Molineux. Erling Haaland scored twice, and new signings Tijani Reijnders and Rayan Cherki also managed to score on their debuts.

Spurs want a long-term replacement for Heung-Min Son, and they are eyeing up a move for Savinho. However, Man City reportedly want around £70m for him, which is a fee that could prove a bit steep for Tottenham, meaning that City may be able to keep hold of him.

Tottenham considers Savinho alternative

Savinho was an excellent asset for Man City this summer, as he made 48 appearances for City last year, scoring three goals and providing 13 assists. That level of creativity will be useful for Man City’s Premier League title bid this season.

It seems now that City are more likely to keep hold of Savinho, as Tottenham have reportedly identified a cheaper alternative to the Man City winger. According to a report by the Independent, Spurs have targeted Monaco winger Maghnes Akliouche as an alternative winger option.

The report says that the Ligue 1 club have set a price tag of £47.5m for Akliouche, making him a cheaper option for Spurs, and he has more experience than Savinho, being two years older.

Akliouche has previously attracted tentative interest from Premier League clubs, including Man City. He made 43 appearances last year for Monaco, scoring seven goals and providing 12 assists.

Would Man City replace Savinho if they sell him?

The Akliouche interest from Spurs is a boost to Man City, but there is still the chance that Tottenham could match City’s valuation of the 21-year-old. If that is the case, then Man City would potentially need to sign a replacement for the winger before the end of the transfer window.

Guardiola’s side has been linked with a move for Rodrygo, who is also a target for Arsenal and Liverpool. He would likely cost more than Savinho’s sale, with the Brazilian most likely to command a fee of over £80m this summer. The Real Madrid winger would be a blockbuster signing, and could turn Man City into the main title favourites.

Last season, the Brazil international made 54 appearances for Real Madrid, scoring 14 goals, and providing 11 assists under Carlo Ancelotti, but his future under Xabi Alonso has become much more uncertain. Amid the questions over a potential move away this summer, Rodrygo was benched for Madrid’s first game of the season, a 1-0 win against Osasuna.
