Manchester United could now turn the head of a goalkeeper who "rejected" a move to West Ham United earlier this summer.
Man Utd urged to sign new goalkeeper before deadline
Gary Neville was encouraged by Man United's performance in the opening game of the season, despite falling to a 1-0 loss at home against Arsenal, however, the Sky Sports pundit believes one problem position needs to be addressed before the deadline. Neville said:
"There's a glaring issue that Man United cannot ignore and it is the fact they need to find a goalkeeper. They have to.
"I don't know where they are on PSR [the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules], but they might have to magic up a bit more money in the next week or two, or do something on loan."
Neville's comments come after a shaky start to the campaign for Altay Bayindir, with the Turkish shot-stopper failing to deal with the corner that led to Riccardo Calafiori's match-winning goal, while Andre Onana received widespread criticism last season.
Paris Saint-Germain's Gianluigi Donnarumma has been named as a potential target for United, but with Manchester City now believed to be in club-to-club talks over a deal for the Italian, INEOS could move on to alternative options.
Botafogo's John Victor has also been named as a potential target in the past, and a deal for the Brazilian could make sense, given that it wouldn't break the bank, at around £6m.
John Victor
Reporter Tim Vickery has also now told Sky Sports News that Victor could be tempted by a move to Old Trafford, having "rejected" a move to West Ham.
Vickery said: "Given the events at Old Trafford at the weekend, there’s been speculation that maybe United could look to bring him in. I would think it’s probably unlikely after he’s just rejected a move to England. But obviously, as we’ve seen from everything that’s happened in this window, even without Champions League football, United is still a very, very powerful draw.
"So if there is something concrete on the table for this player, maybe Manchester United will turn his head more than West Ham were able to."

"Phenomenal" Victor impressing at Botafogo
The 29-year-old has performed very well for Botafogo over the course of the past year, shipping very few goals, while also averaging a high clean sheet and save percentage in comparison to other goalkeepers.
Statistic Average per 90
Clean sheet % 52.3% (96th percentile)
Save % 81.6% (97th percentile)
Goals against 0.64 (98th percentile)
The Botafogo star has also been lauded as "phenomenal" by South American football expert Nathan Joyes, meaning it could be a savvy move for INEOS to bring him in.
While it would be a gamble to sign Victor, given that he is unproven in a major league, it could be a risk worth taking, as Man United are known to be treading a fine line PSR-wise, and the former Santos man could be a low-cost addition at around just £6m.
