Sky Sports: 'Superstar' agrees five-year deal to join Liverpool, he has agreement with his club …

Liverpool's move for top defensive target Marc Guehi is 'heating up', according to reports - with the Crystal Palace defender having a five-year deal ready on the table for his eventual arrival on Merseyside, as well as the Eagles having an agreement in place waiting for him to leave.

The Reds have already signed almost £300million worth of talent this summer with Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez among others making the move to the domestic champions - but they could look to get one more deal over the line with 'superstar' Guehi making it clear that he wishes to join the club.

The report by Sky Sports journalist Sacha Tavolieri states that Guehi's move to Liverpool is 'heating up', with the England star pushing to join the Reds.

Liverpool have made progress on Guehi, having been in talks with the Eagles for several weeks, and they are confident of concluding a deal to bolster their back line under Arne Slot.

The former Chelsea defender, alongside teammate Eberechi Eze, made it known to Palace chair Steve Parish that he wanted the club to accept his departure. They agreed on the promise that he could exit Selhurst Park if Liverpool meet an asking price of around £45million to be sure of letting their skipper leave for the Merseyside outfit.

New talks have been held between the two clubs in recent hours, with the objective of reaching an agreement, but Palace have made it clear that they can't afford to lose their star defender without finding a suitable replacement. Guehi has given Liverpool the green light for a move, and he wants the deal to go through - with a five-year deal awaiting him on Merseyside if he ends up moving to the current Premier League champions.

Guehi has made history since moving to Palace, becoming their first-ever major trophy-lifting captain in May's FA Cup win over Manchester City at Wembley, which secured their debut European campaign, as well as lifting the Community Shield earlier this month.

Having also starred for England at EURO 2024 as the Three Lions made the final under Gareth Southgate before losing to Spain, Guehi has seen his stock skyrocket at Selhurst Park over the past 18 months - though his value is decreasing due to his contract running out next summer, and that has given Palace less power than usual when it comes to gaining a big fee for their best players.
