Transfer record deal changes plans for major Leeds United move

Leeds United have spent less than £100million in this summer transfer market. But the club have made some brilliant additions to the first team, showing how well the recruitment was planned out.

Early in the window the team set out to bolster the defense and midfield. Jaka Bijol was brought in to challenge for a place in the back four, and Gabriel Gudmundsson replaced Junior Firpo. In midfield, Daniel Farke wanted some steel and dynamism, so Leeds brought in Anton Stach and Sean Longstaff.

The attack remains the position of worry, as just two additions have been made in the area. Maybe the arrival of Noah Okafor can help replace the impact of Manor Solomon from last season.

With all this spending, there may inevitably be some permanent departures soon, with some big names linked with exits.

Pascal Struijk set to stay at Leeds United

Renato Veiga moving to the La Liga side for big money should ultimately end Villarreal’s pursuit of Pascal Struijk. The Leeds defender was linked with a shock move to Spain earlier this week.

But according to Beren Cross, the stance of the club is that they could sell Struijk for a huge offer if it comes in. This is mostly to balance the books due to PSR, and the club’s spending this summer.

“My assumption had always been one of Struijk, Gnonto or [Mateo] Joseph would need to be sold for an eight-figure sum that delivered a PSR boost in this window.

“However, the point was made by someone at the club, during the Germany camp, that the accounting deadline is June 30, 2026. Therefore, sales can be made in January or next June to cut the club’s cloth.

“If a club does come in with an offer Leeds cannot reject, then that may force their hand, of course.”
