Birmingham City and Wrexham both have ambitious owners who want to see their clubs competing at the highest level, and for these two clubs, that is in the Premier League.
This drive and ambition has seen the pair invest heavily this summer to first secure their Championship status, and then battle to climb as high up the table as possible, hopefully resulting in a promotion campaign.
Birmingham City have made an unbeaten start to their Championship campaign as they drew with Ipswich Town before stunning Blackburn Rovers with two stoppage-time goals to secure a win at Ewood Park.
Meanwhile, Wrexham have struggled so far in their start to life back in the Championship, as they lost in dramatic fashion to Southampton on the opening day before the West Brom team put in an impressive display to beat them at the Racecourse last weekend.
While both teams have added significantly to their squads this summer, it does not appear to be slowing down as the window edges closer to closing on September 1, as they are set to battle it out for the signature of a Liverpool star.
Birmingham City and Wrexham set to tussle for the signature of Lewis Koumas
It has been reported in the Liverpool Echo that Birmingham City and Wrexham top a long list of potential suitors for the signature of the Liverpool starlet.
Lewis Koumas has played for the senior team at Liverpool on a handful of occasions and spent last season out on loan at Stoke City.
His performances and the potential believed to be around the teenager have led to the interest this summer to sign him on a permanent deal.

Birmingham City and Wrexham are believed to see him as a player with significant quality who can develop at their clubs and help them reach their campaign ambitions.
Other clubs believed to be interested include Sheffield United, Norwich City, Preston North End and Hull City.
Jurgen Klopp is a huge fan of Lewis Koumas
The former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp handed Koumas his debut for the club against Southampton in the FA Cup, and in this game he managed to score.
After the match, as reported in Wales Online, Klopp said: “Staying in the game for these moments just shows he is a real striker because the goal is exceptional, the step in and then he shoots before the goalie can settle. A really good finish.”
Since then Koumas has featured in 50 senior games for both Liverpool and Stoke City, impressing while out on loan at the Potters last season.
Klopp envisaged a bright future for the Welsh international after introducing him to the team; however, he probably would have hoped this was at Liverpool and not elsewhere.
Liverpool still view the player in a positive light; however, there is a desire to play first-team football on a regular basis, and so a move may be on the cards now to either Birmingham or Wrexham.
