New European giant 'approach' Chelsea over Chukwuemeka deal

Chelsea have reportedly been given fresh hope of finding a new club for Carney Chukwuemeka.

Despite there once being hope among the Blues fanbase that the midfielder could develop into a first-team regular, injuries and a change in head coach has halted his development.

Enzo Maresca was regularly adamant that the 21-year-old needs to play 35 games per season on loan in order to move into contention for a place in his first-team squad.

That has subsequently not materialised courtesy of suitable offers not materialising last summer and Chukwuemeka being restricted to 383 minutes in a Borussia Dortmund shirt during the second half of the last campaign, including the Club World Cup.

Although Dortmund are eager to secure another loan deal for the England Under-20 international, Chelsea are insistent that they want to facilitate a permanent departure.

New club enters Chukwuemeka race

According to sports broadcaster Ben Jacobs, who was commenting on X, Juventus are interested in negotiating terms with their Chelsea counterparts.

While it is not stated whether Juventus want to sign Chukwuemeka on a permanent or temporary basis, it is stressed that Chelsea will only consider the former.

Like Dortmund, Juventus are no strangers to conducting business with Chelsea having acquired Renato Veiga on loan during the winter transfer window.

That may ultimately prove beneficial if terms reach an advanced stage, all parties keen to act efficiently with just 12 days remaining of the market.

Chukwuemeka still has three years left on his contract, yet his current club want to bolster their position with the Premier League's and UEFA's financial regulations.

Chukwuemeka saga to linger on?

At this point, there is no sign that there will be a quick resolution, the same situation facing a number of Chelsea's unwanted players.

Nevertheless, the scenario remains that sales must be made to allow the world champions to finalise deals for RB Leipzig winger Xavi Simons and Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho.

As it stands, Chelsea are at a net-deficit of somewhere in the region of £55m when it comes to their summer business, and, from the outside at least, it seems like they must make at least another £100m in sales.

Axel Disasi, Veiga, Alfie Gilchrist, Ben Chilwell, Chukwuemeka, Christopher Nkunku, Raheem Sterling, Tyrique George, David Datro Fofana and Nicolas Jackson are the players that Chelsea are looking to sell.
