It may be now or never for Packers linebacker Quay Walker.
The Packers have already decided not to exercise Walker’s fifth-year option, despite the athleticism he’s flashed thus far in his career while posting 341 total tackles with 6.5 sacks, and one interception returned for a touchdown through his first three seasons.

As the former first-round picks enters a pressure-packed 2025 season that could determine his future, he already sees big things ahead.
“I’m flying faster,” Walker said, via ESPN, in what sounds both like self-assurance and a message to opponents.
This is Walker’s second season playing under defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley who helped orchestrate a dramatic turnaround on that side of the football last season.
The 6-foot-4 and 241-pound Walker posted a strong 65.5 pass rush trade from Pro Football Focus during the 2024 campaign while producing three sacks and 14 pressures, as a top-20 performer in both key categories among linebackers.

That continuity could unlock Walker’s best football in a season where he needs it most.
“I know the defense way, way better,” Walker explained.
Walker figures to play a key role in the Packers’ defense this season, and if he does, he could play his way into a significant raise next spring.
