Fulham midfielder Andreas Pereira continues to be strongly linked with Palmeiras, with Brazilian outlet Bolavip reporting that the player has now become the top priority for Abel Ferreira’s side following the departure of Richard Ríos.
According to the report, Palmeiras president Leila Pereira has authorised director Anderson Barros to push forward and close an agreement for Andreas before the window shuts.
The urgency is clear, with the club determined to deliver a direct replacement for Ríos in the coming days.
The midfielder, who previously played for Flamengo, had been considered by the Rio de Janeiro side under new coach Filipe Luís.
However, Bolavip state the Rubro-Negro opted to focus on other reinforcements and will not compete for his signing. That scenario leaves Palmeiras in a stronger position as they seek to strike a deal with Fulham.
With the Brazilian market closing on 2 September, Palmeiras are accelerating talks to finally secure Andreas Pereira – a move their supporters have been waiting for since earlier in the year.
