**Mo Salah**has added to his legacy with the receipt of the PFA Players' Player of the Year Award.
The Egyptian beat Bruno Fernandes, Declan Rice, Cole Palmer, and Alexander Isak to the award, as well as teammate Alexis Mac Allister. It is the third time he has scooped the big prize from the awards night, having previously received the accolade in 2018 after his debut season and in 2022.
Salah is the first man to win this award three times, just days after his goal against Crystal Palace put him level in fourth place with Andy Cole in the all-time **Premier League**scoring charts on 187 goals.
The 33-year-old is an all-timer, and last season was the peak for a player who has defined this era.
Salah storms away with the crown
Salah opened his account on the opening matchday away at Ipswich Town. He has only failed to hit the back of the net in the first fixture of the 2023/24 season across his time with the Reds: his ninth strike on the first week of a **Premier League**campaign would be the first of many records to fall.
There were doubts about how the campaign would pan out. Federico Chiesa was the only summer signing, a gamble for £10 million from Juventus, while Jurgen Klopp was gone from the dugout for the first time since the end of 2015. Arne Slot stepped into the breach, and he had it all to prove.
The Dutchman did a deal with Salah: relieve the defensive burden from the forward and bank on his talismanic presence to be the difference maker. **Liverpool**looked less like the rock-and-roll unit from the past, but the star scorer was still the same, and the agreement reaped dividends for all involved.
Winners against **Wolves**and **Brighton**to clinchers against Aston Villa and Man City, the Reds rolled on week after week with the clutch gene from the 'Egyptian King.' **Arsenal**faltered badly before the November international break, and a collapse for the Citizens meant **Liverpool**were walking to glory.
Salah did not stall. With two goals and two assists against Tottenham, he was the first man to hit double-digit goals and assists in the league before Christmas. A 5-0 battering of West Ham United to finish 2024 then saw him become the player to reach 30 goal involvements in the fewest fixtures.
Records kept tumbling for the wide forward, who finished the season with 29 goals and 18 assists. He had not quite matched the assist record from Thierry Henry, but his tally of 47 goal involvements in a 38 fixture **Premier League**campaign has no rival. This individual award was really a formality.
There was a trophy to go hand in hand with his work. A 5-1 victory over Spurs at **Anfield**wrapped up the **Premier League**title, his second with the Reds after 2020. He is adored in Merseyside, and the signature of a new contract in April ensures that the fruits from this relationship are far from over.
