Everton, Crystal Palace, and West Ham are on alert due to the availability of Jonathan Rowe, as Marseille are ready to offload the winger.
According to Graeme Bailey on TBR Football, a host of Premier League teams, including Crystal Palace, Everton, and West Ham United, are alert to the availability of Jonathan Rowe. The former Norwich City winger has been told by Marseille to leave the Ligue 1 club, and there is a possibility of a switch back to England despite heavy links to Italy.
Jonathan Rowe was seen a a big talent for the future, which prompted Marseille to splash £17 million to sign the winger last summer. Things have been modest over in France, with the attacker claiming three goals and as many assists in 28 Ligue 1 games in his first campaign.
The club and manager Roberto De Zerbi have been satisfied by his presence and performances, although a recent development has strained their relationship. It appears Rowe and teammate Adrien Rabiot were involved in a fight following Marseille’s late defeat to Rennes on the opening weekend. Irrespective of this, Leeds United had been keen on the forward earlier, but have since moved on to other targets.
The Ligue 1 club have since decided to sell the two stars, with Jonathan Rowe one of those attracting some important clubs back in England. Crystal Palace are looking for a player of his profile as they might have to come to terms with the departure of Eberechi Eze late in the window.
Jonathan Rowe may not match Eze’s profile, but it appears Crystal Palace are likely to bring in two players to cover for their talisman’s absence. West Ham are also interested as they are still on the lookout for wide attackers to improve their side. The availability of Rowe remains an intriguing prospect, as the Hammers could potentially offer him a key role in the side.
English sides face Bologna competition for Jonathan Rowe
Newcastle United were interested earlier before they signed Anthony Elanga, and are no longer considering the £17 million Ligue 1 winger. Everton, on the other hand, are still looking for a wide attacker following their failure to land Mallick Fofana earlier in the window.
Everton, Crystal Palace and West Ham could make intriguing cases to convince Jonathan Rowe, but as per Fabrizio Romano, the winger has agreed on personal terms with Bologna. The Italian side are conducting talks with Marseille to finalise a move for the winger, although a late push from Premier League sides is still within the realm of possibilities.
