Report–Manchester United lead, press to sign£34.4million play breaker

Old Trafford

Manchester United have been very busy in the summer transfer window so far.

Although they might not have brought in many players in terms of quantity, they have massively reinforced in terms of quality and they have all been massive signings.

News –Report – Man Utd consider offer close to asking price to sign £207,000 a week versatile star

The likes of Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko have all joined the English club and Man Utd have paid in excess of £200m to sign these three attacking reinforcements.

That is a massive financial outlay in a season when they don’t have any European football.

It doesn’t look like the English club is anywhere close to done, though. As per Orgullo Biri, Manchester United are leading the race and pressing to sign talented 23-year-old French midfielder Lucien Agoume from Sevilla this summer.

Man Utd were initially interested in signing Brighton play-breaker Carlos Baleba for this position but were priced out after the Seagulls demanded an incredibly high fee.

On the other hand, the Red Devils would be able to land the Sevilla midfielder for around £34.4million.

Agoume has made a great start to the new season in La Liga. Despite Sevilla losing the game, the Frenchman netted and had a very good performance. It comes as no surprise to see a club like Manchester United interested in him.

Agoume was a very important part of Sevilla’s setup last year as well. He made 35 appearances in the league in the 2024/25 season and should he continue to stay at the Spanish club, there is no doubt that he would become an even more important player this summer.

His physicality and versatility makes him a perfect fit for Ruben Amorim’s system that needs a midfielder with a massive engine.

Agoume can get up and down the field, contribute both defensively and offensively and can almost be considered a mini-Baleba.

That Agoume will be available at an attainable cost for Man Utd is a massive plus. It would allow the club to focus on other positions using the money that they can save and let’s wait and see if the Red Devils push to sign the young Frenchman in the coming days.
