Bulls lose 24-year-old guard to East rival in free agency

The Chicago Bulls are letting one of their intriguing young players depart in free agency.

Throughout this offseason, the Bulls have been mostly quiet. While the team has drafted Noa Essengue and signed head coach Billy Donovan to an extension, not much else has happened in the Windy City.

With Josh Giddey’s restricted free agency holding up any other big moves for the Bulls, they haven’t been able to make much else happen. While the Bulls still have a bright future with their young stars, their rival might soon make them pay for letting one of their guards walk away this summer.

Bulls’ two-way guard is heading to Miami

On Wednesday, NBA insider [Michael Scotto](https://x.com/MikeAScotto/status/1958243123748098511) reported that the Miami Heat are signing Jahmir Young to a two-way contract. Last season, the 24-year-old guard out of Maryland was a star in the G League, prompting the Bulls to ink him to a two-way deal for the last two months of the season.

Averaging over 20 points a night in his time in the G League, Young earned a shot with the Bulls toward the end of the season, playing six games for Chicago across March and April. With a couple of four-point outings in the final week of the season highlighting his NBA experience, Young might have a chance to break through and prove himself with the Heat.

Considering the Bulls are already stacked at guard and are expected to commit to Giddey long-term, there was likely not going to be any room for Young, which led to Chicago waiving him back in July. Still, the Heat have a chance to make the Bulls regret their decision is Young can develop in Miami like so many other G League stars have.
