The Minnesota Vikings are just a couple of days from their final preseason action of this season. They will travel to Tennessee to play the Titans in the last exhibition game before things count.
This roster is set up to win now. J.J. McCarthy brings a level of uncertainty under center, but massive improvements on both sides of the ball are encouraging. Unfortunately there is also a level of unavailability that is starting to rear its head.

Wide receiver is a position of concern and cornerback should be too. Andrew Van Ginkel hasn’t practiced in weeks and Harrison Smith has the worst illness ever. Then Wednesday’s practice ended with multiple players coming up lame.

Practices need to happen for players to get ready for the regular season. That doesn’t mean there won’t be a sigh of relief after every single one. The roster still needs to make it to the regular season healthy. Unfortunately Wednesday sounded like an ugly day to be a MN Viking.

Starters aren’t expected to play for the Vikings against the Titans on Saturday. That means there will be more physical practices that take shape at TCO Performance Center in the leadup to the season.
Rookie draft pick Tai Felton, WR2 Jordan Addison, and potential starting cornerback Jeff Okudah all suffered nicks before returning to the locker room. It’s possible there is nothing severe for any of them, but it’s still not exactly heartwarming news.

Felton is probably the only wide receiver currently in camp not named Justin Jefferson, Addison, or Jalen Nailor worthy of making the roster. Addison will have time to recover as he’s sidelined due to his “wet reckless” charge. Okudah has drawn rave reviews and is being considered for the final starting cornerback role.
With just a couple of days left in the week, you can bet each of these players will be shut down. None were going to play against the Titans, and now it will be about being ready and healthy for the regular season.

If there’s a positive result from Wednesday’s action at TCO Performance Center, it’s that superstar wideout Justin Jefferson continues to work his way back from the hamstring strain he suffered earlier in training camp.
The Minnesota Vikings kick off their regular season on September 8th against the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field.
