The Longhorns had Manning start some games last season because of some Quinn Ewers injuries, but this will be the first year he is a full-time starter. With Manning being a redshirt sophomore, many are wondering if he will enter the 2026 NFL Draft. Just a couple of weeks ago, his Granddad Archie Manning, made a statement about him not leaving Texas until the 2027 NFL Draft arrives.

Arch spoke to the media on Tuesday afternoon. He was asked about the remarks about not going in the 2026 NFL Draft and will go in the 2027 NFL Draft instead from Archie. Arch said to the media about that,

“Yeah, I don’t know where he got that from. He texted me and apologized about that. I’m really just taking it day by day right now.”

Well with this being the case, is there a chance that Arch is just a one-year starter at Texas and he declares for the 2026 NFL Draft? Well history does not favor one-year college starters at the NFL level. Many quarterbacks who could potentially declare for the 2026 NFL Draft will have started at least two seasons or more.

Even if all the hype is there for Manning, he would benefit for another college season in 2026. There is going to be a lot of drama surrounding about what he is going to do. No matter what he decides to do, he is going to be viewed as one of the top quarterbacks being drafted in 2026 or 2027. It is all going to depend on how the 2025 college football season goes for Manning and the Longhorns.
