Real Madrid are weighing up a stunning swap deal for Manchester City star Erling Haaland, with Vinicius Junior set to be offered as part of the package.
According to a report from Fichajes, Real Madrid are interested in acquiring the services of Erling Haaland, and they are considering offering Vinicius Junior in a swap deal to sign the Manchester City mainstay. With the Brazilian international’s future uncertain, Los Blancos are looking to make the most out of the situation.
Vinicius has been a shadow of his former self since the Ballon d’Or snub. While his defensive output has increased under Xabi Alonso, he hasn’t been as effective in the final third as he was 12 months back.
Apart from his form, his contract situation is also complicated. He only has two years left on his current deal, and Los Blancos have been working hard on a renewal, but things haven’t gone according to plan.
The player has massive wage demands that the club are not willing to meet. With Vinicius not in the best of form and his future up in the air, Florentino Perez is considering offering him in a deal to bring Haaland to the club.
Perez wants Mbappe & Haaland in the same team
The Real Madrid president has a long-standing desire to have both Kylian Mbappe and Haaland in the same team. He feels the duo could help him dominate world football for the next decade.
Haaland has been on fire since joining Manchester City back in the summer of 2022. He did pen a new deal at the start of the year, which runs until the summer of 2034, but it is no secret that he wishes to play for Los Blancos one day.
An opportunity to move to Madrid would certainly tempt him. While City have him tied to a long-term deal, they know keeping him against his will won’t work in their favour. As a result, they could certainly fancy such a swap deal.
Vinicius may not have been in the best form of late, but he remains one of the best wingers in the world. Pep Guardiola would certainly relish the chance to work with a player of his quality. His ability to run at defenders and create space with his pace and dribbling could add a new dimension to the Spanish manager’s team.
Meanwhile, Los Blancos are hoping that including Vinicius in the deal could serve as a bargaining chip to significantly reduce the cost of signing Haaland, a move that would otherwise demand close to €200 million
