Ex-Wizard Wall to join Prime Video NBA broadcasts

John Wall announced his retirement from the NBA on Tuesday. On Wednesday, the five-time former All-Star for the Wizards confirmed his next job as an in-studio analyst for Prime Video’s inaugural season of NBA broadcasts.

Wall joins a Prime Video crew that already features former players Dwyane Wade, Blake Griffin, Steve Nash, Dirk Nowitzki and Candace Parker.

“This change is not just a career move; it’s a chance to stay close to the game I love and share the insights I’ve gained throughout my career playing point guard at the highest level,” Wall said in a statement. “Basketball has shaped my life, and now I can help fans see it from a new angle. Although this is a new journey, my passion for the game remains unchanged.”

After playing his final NBA game in 2023, Wall worked as a guest analyst with NBA TV and a broadcaster for G League games. His stint with Prime Video will be his first full-time analyst role.

“We’re proud to have John join us for the launch of NBA on Prime,” Amina Hussein, Prime Sports’ Head of On-Air Talent, said in a news release. “He has an incredible eye for the game, and we look forward to the thoughtful perspective he will add to our coverage throughout the season.”

In his best season, Wall averaged 23.1 points and 10.7 assists for the Wizards in 2016-17 and was named to the All-NBA third team. He was the 2014 Slam Dunk champion. He was also an elite defender, making the All-Defensive second team in 2015.
