The most recent player to be added to the Sacramento Kings roster, forward Daeqwon Plowden, was signed to a way-deal following his encouraging showing in Summer League.
Plowden joined The Drive Guys on Monday to discuss offseason workouts with teammates, adjusting to the NBA game, his background, and more.
Law Murray, NBA reporter for The Athletic, recently shared that Plowden, Isaac Jones, Nique Clifford, Devin Carter, and Maxime Raynaud had been playing well at Rico Hines’ offseason runs in Southern California.
The 26-year-old spoke about those runs and conversations he’s had with the Kings’ head coach, Doug Christie.
Christie’s first words to the young players were, “Who here picks up 94 feet?”, according to Plowden.

Undrafted out of Bowling Green in 2022, the 6’6 wing has played for Birmingham, Osceola, and College Park in the G-League.
“I knew being able to guard in this league was something that would stand out the most,” Plowden told The Drive Guys. ‘I pride myself on that.”
Atlanta gave Plowden his first NBA minutes last season, seeing just 72 minutes over six games. Thirty-one of them came in game 82.
He should get chances with Stockton, led by new head coach Will Scott, with potential to break into Sacramento’s rotation.
The main club undoubtedly could use his 3&D archetype, but Plowden hasn’t broken through yet.
Other Topics Discussed Include:
Recent Rico Hines runs, how young Sacramento players have been connecting this offseason
Fitting the 3&D archetype vs. just being himself
Plowden’s NBA journey up to this point
Smaller high school upbringing
The decision to attend Bowling Green
Adjusting his game from Bowling Green to the NBA with Atlanta
And PLENTY more!
