Aston Villa have until the end of the transfer window to complete any incoming or outgoing bits of business

The transfer window shuts on Monday 1st September at a slightly earlier time than usual at 7pm. That means that Premier League sides like Aston Villa have less than two weeks left to do some business. They have until the deadline to complete any incoming or outgoing bits of business.

The Midlands outfit drew 0-0 at home to Newcastle United in their first game of the new season. Defender Ezri Konsa was sent off during the game at Villa Park. Unai Emery’s side are back in action on Saturday with an away trip down to London to face Brentford.

Aston Villa stance on swap deal

As per the Chelsea Chronicle, Aston Villa forward Morgan Rogers has been linked with a swap deal to Chelsea with Nicolas Jackson coming the other way. Reporter Graeme Bailey has said: “I do expect Jackson to go. From my understanding at the moment, I think he’s maybe more likely to go to Villa with Emery. I said also it could help Chelsea and Villa’s relationship, where if Chelsea really do want Morgan Rogers, we know they’re desperate for Morgan Rogers at some point, but if they were to, make it a bit easier for Villa to sign Jackson, then they’re not going to forget that.

“And I think they can do a behind the scenes where Chelsea secure first option on Morgan Rogers as part of that deal. All these conversations will be happening. I think there’s a real chance that Jackson ends up at Villa.”

However, BirminghamWorld understands Aston Villa have no plans to let Rogers leave in this window. Rogers, 22, has been a key player for his current club over recent times and is one of their most prized assets. He has a lot of time left to run on his contract so Villa are under no pressure to cash in on him anytime.

Aston Villa story so far for Morgan Rogers

Aston Villa signed Rogers back in the winter of 2024 to boost their attacking ranks. They took a gamble on him after being alerted to his attention in the Championship at Middlesbrough. He has since turned out to be an inspired acquisition.

The England international, who has made four caps for the Three Lions, has scored 17 goals in 70 games altogether. The ex-West Brom youngster joined Manchester City in 2019 and was loaned out by Pep Guardiola’s side to Lincoln City, AFC Bournemouth and Blackpool to get some experience under his belt.

After joining Villa, he said at the time: “I had a conversation with him (Emery) briefly, getting to know him and what he’s about, his goals and the way he is as a manager. I’m looking forward to working with him because I feel like he can get the best out of me.”

He added: “With the way that the team has started this season, I want to add to that and just try to improve myself. I want to put myself in the best possible position to get to the top. With the manager and the players that are here and the way the club is going, it’s only going to get better.”
