NBA insider believes Russell Westbrook could be out of the league next season

NBA insider questioned whether former MVP Russell Westbrook will stay in the league this upcoming season, saying the Sacramento Kings are currently the only real destination for the 36-year-old guard.

NBA star Russell Westbrook’s career has taken a downturn since the end of his 11-year tenure with the Oklahoma City Thunder, and now there may not be a team willing to take a chance on the former MVP.

According to NBA insider Jake Fischer, the Sacramento Kings remain the only potential suitor for Westbrook in free agency. He also noted that there is a real possibility Westbrook may not return to the NBA at all.

"We are still waiting to see what other moves could come in Sacramento before the Kings try to bring in Russell Westbrook," Fischer reports.

"It's been the one home all along that we really have looked at for Russell Westbrook, and it's still the home that I heard earlier this week is the most likely outcome for Russell Westbrook if he’s going to be in the NBA at all," he added.

Westbrook, 36, is coming off a turbulent season with the Denver Nuggets, where he averaged 13.3 points, 6.1 assists, and 4.9 rebounds per game.

According to earlier reports, despite his age, the Kings would see him as a potential spark plug and secondary scoring threat alongside Domantas Sabonis, Zach LaVine, and DeMar DeRozan.
