Barcelona continue to work tirelessly to ensure a return to Camp Nou is feasible within the next month, but the club have secured a Plan B just in case things go wrong — again.
[According to _Mundo Deportivo_](https://www.mundodeportivo.com/futbol/fc-barcelona/20250820/1002517706/barca-asegura-estadi-olimpic-finales-febrero-vuelve-spotify-camp-nou.html), the club reached agreement with the city of Barcelona on Tuesday to utilize the _Montjuïc_ Olympic Stadium through the end of February 2026, allowing the Catalans to host all UEFA Champions League ‘League Phase’ matches as well as a potential Playoff clash if Barça finish between 9th and 24th place in the European Cup’s new format.
UEFA’s regulations say a team must use the same venue to host matches in the League Phase, so if Camp Nou is not ready in time for Barça’s opening home game, they must play at _Montjuïc_ at least until the end of the old group stage.
Barça will be allowed to play _La Liga_ home matches on different venues if their initial plan to host Valencia on September 13-14 at Camp Nou doesn’t materialize, so they could return to Camp Nou as early as possible for league games and only utilize _Montjuïc_ for European nights.
An important detail, however, is that the agreement to use _Montjuïc_ does not include the home game against Valencia due to a concert taking place at the stadium on the same weekend, so Barça would have to find a different venue if Camp Nou isn’t ready to welcome fans in time.
Two contigency plans are currently in place if that scenario unfolds: playing Valencia at Camp Nou behind closed doors or moving the game to _Montilivi_, the home of Barça’s local rivals Girona with a capacity of just over 14,000.
Barça insist that they will have the necessary licenses to open Camp Nou to around 30,000 fans for both the Valencia match and their Champions League opener, but a return to _Montjuïc_ is now a realistic possibility given the time constraints.
