Arsenal 'have eye on' £60m Chelsea star as Man Utd get boost in bid for winger

The latest Premier League transfer rumours - with news from Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Aston Villa and more.

Yet again, it’s time for our regular morning round-up and review of the biggest and juiciest new Premier League transfer rumours – and today we start our digest with a story that should be of interest to the Arsenal and Chelsea fans amongst you.

According to TeamTalk’s unnamed sources, Arsenal “have identified” Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson as a transfer target after Kai Havertz was struck down with a knee injury, and the Senegalese international is one of two options that they’re said to be considering.

Chelsea are prepared to sell Jackson for a fee of around £60m this summer after signing Liam Delap and João Pedro, but Newcastle United will provide some competition for the Gunners, according to the report.

The other forward that Arsenal “have an eye on” is said to be Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins, for whom they made an unsuccessful bid back in January. Villa are also said to value their man at £60m, although they “do not want to sell” Watkins if they can possibly avoid it.

The 3AM Verdict: Villa are highly unlikely to sell Watkins this summer and the PSR problems they tangled with earlier this year are resolved, so there’s nothing them forcing to – we imagine it would take more than £60m. As for Arsenal’s alleged interest in Jackson, we’ll wait and see, but there are signs that Newcastle are pulling away from a bid.

Manchester United target will “consider” summer move

Over to a story from France now, with L’Equipe suggesting that PSG forward Lee Kang-In may “consider leaving” the Parc des Princes this summer amid concerns over his playing time under Luis Enrique – and that could be good news for Manchester United, among others.

L’Equipe observe that Napoli are interested in Lee while “several Premier League sides have expressed interest” – they aren’t named, but the Manchester Evening News have published links between Manchester United and the South Korean in the past few days, suggesting that the Red Devils may be among the teams monitoring the situation.

There’s no word on what PSG might want for the 24-year-old and they aren’t keen to sell him, having rebuffed several approaches this summer, but the situation may change if the player starts to push for a move, which is implied as a possibility. It’s said that it would “take a very attractive offer to change [PSG’s mind].”

The 3AM Verdict: Surely, when they need to sell players and sign a new midfielder, Manchester United wouldn’t splash out on yet another forward? We don’t think even Ineos are quite that mad, but you never know. Arsenal have also been mentioned in rumours recently, although we can’t say we’re all that convinced.

Nottingham Forest “in talks” for La Liga star

With the signing of Douglas Luiz expected to be announced imminently, Nottingham Forest are really starting to get going in the transfer window – and they may not be done, according to GiveMeSport, who claim that they are “in talks” to sign Sevilla’s José Ángel Carmona.

GiveMeSport associate Fabrizio Romano is the primary source for this one, and he claims that there are “advanced talks” taking place over a deal for the Spanish right-back, with Forest allegedly viewing Carmona, 23, as a “long-term upgrade” over Ola Aina.

There’s no mention of the finances that might be involved, but this story comes hot on the heels of other reports which suggest that Forest are in the market for Aston Villa’s Matty Cash and Manchester City’s Rico Lewis, so it’s pretty clear that a right-back is near the top of Nuno Espirito Santo’s shopping list.

The 3AM Verdict: Who to believe? The Carmona links feel more plausible than those with Lewis or Cash, but we’re at the stage in which rumours are being spread with little regard for the truth. That will emerge in the coming days – for now, there’s a lot of guesswork going on.
