Shedeur Sanders has been one of the more exciting rookie quarterbacks in the 2025 NFL Preseason, but there have been a lot of discussions regarding the Cleveland Browns quarterback battle. We now have an idea of the 2025 depth chart, but one former Pro Bowler is not feeling positive about what the team announced. Let’s take a deeper dive into all the drama.

The Cleveland Browns have officially announced their 2025 depth chart in terms of the quarterback position as Joe Flacco has won the starting job to open the season. While coach Kevin Stefanski is staying quiet about the backup spot, it appears that Kenny Pickett is going to be the backup while Shedeur Sanders and Dillon Gabriel are fighting for the third spot on the depth chart.
While on Politely Raw with Pacman Jones, the former Pro Bowler took a shot at Kenny Pickett as Jones believes the Cleveland Browns should have had Shedeur Sanders as the backup quarterback on their depth chart.
“The Browns are a f**k up. From the GM to the owner, this is a s**t show. Pickett cannot see Cover 2 or 3. Look at the film. The film don’t lie.”
ESPN Cleveland has been posting the training camp stats of the Cleveland Browns quarterbacks and have Shedeur Sanders completing 70-of-100 passes for eight touchdowns and zero interceptions. Kenny Pickett has gone 42-of-56 with eight touchdowns and one interception. Of course, those numbers could be misleading as we do not know the context of each quarterback’s work throughout the 14 training camp practices, but it does give an indication.
The preseason stats have not really given us much to work off of either, as Shedeur Sanders has played in one game thus far and Kenny Pickett has not had any action. Sanders played in Week 1 against the Carolina Panthers and finished completing 14 of 23 passes for 138 yards and two touchdowns without any interceptions. He also added four rushing attempts for 19 yards (4.8 yards per carry).
