£35m striker transfer blow – Leeds United deal in doubt

Leeds United are keen to sign one more striker before the end of the summer transfer window despite the arrival of Dominic Calvert-Lewin on a free transfer last week. Daniel Farke wants more firepower added to his squad in the coming days.

Noah Okafor passed a medical with Leeds on Wednesday ahead of his proposed £18m move from AC Milan to Elland Road. The club are expected to officially announce his arrival as their ninth new signing of the ongoing summer transfer window in the coming hours.

Leeds are also looking to bring in one more attacking midfielder and a full-back. The latter has become a priority late in the window due to the lack of quality and depth in that area of the squad, as well as Isaac Schmidt’s willingness to move on from Elland Road before the window closes on September 1st.

However, signing one more striker remains a priority, and the club have been assessing several options before deciding to trigger one of the deals they have been working on in the coming days.

Leeds United target Rodrigo Muniz set to sign new Fulham contract

Rodrigo Muniz has been Leeds’ top target all summer, and they have had a bid rejected by Fulham earlier in the transfer window.

Leeds believed that the forward would eventually move late in the transfer window once the Cottagers managed to sign a new striker for the team.

However, Fulham remained adamant about not selling him and rejected three offers from Atalanta, who had agreed on personal terms with the Brazilian.

There were suggestions that Leeds could make a late move to sign him, but according to Football Insider, Muniz is now set to stay at Fulham.

The Cottagers are in talks with him over a new deal, and the forward is expected to sign a new contract with the club.

He came off the bench to score a late equaliser for Fulham against Brighton last weekend and is expected to get more minutes once he signs a new deal.

Fulham have had a quiet transfer window, and Marco Silva has been insistent on not losing Muniz this summer.

Leeds need a striker before the window closes

Joel Piroe started against Everton on Monday night, and Lukas Nmecha came off the bench to score the winner at Elland Road.

Leeds fans are yet to see Dominic Calvert-Lewin in action, and there is hope that he will add more goals and Premier League experience to their team.

However, both Nmecha and Calvert-Lewin have been injury-prone over the last few years, and Farke has admitted that he needs one more striker.

Leeds are assessing their options, but the club are almost certain to try and sign one more forward before the window closes on September 1st.
