Evangelos Marinakis key as move to Nottingham Forest could be finalised in ‘next few hours’

On Wednesday, El Chiringuito reported Nottingham Forest have made an offer of €9m plus €2m bonuses and a 15% sell-on clause for Sevilla’s José Ángel Carmona. They said the two clubs are in talks for a possible sale this summer.

Thursday’s edition of ABC Sevilla reports Nottingham Forest have submitted a €10m bid for the defender.

This is a ‘truly significant amount’ for a player who was a regular last season but hasn’t fully convinced manager Matías Almeyda.

Nottingham Forest can take advantage of this to sign the right-back, who is second in their list after Rico Lewis. He isn’t leaving Manchester City, and the Reds are now focusing on the Sevilla player.

Carmona’s entourage has informed the newspaper that they are waiting to see how the negotiations progress between the two clubs. The 23-year-old is also yet to make a decision over joining Nuno Espírito Santo’s side, but it’s expected he’d say yes.

Over at AS, they report Sevilla are keen on Nottingham Forest’s David Carmo, who spent the last season on loan at Olympiacos. The latter two are owned by Evangelos Marinakis.

Sevilla sporting director Antonio Cordón knows Marinakis from his time at the Greek club, where he also signed Carmo. He now wants to sign the 26-year-old centre-back for the Andalusian club, to replace Loïc Badé.

With Nottingham Forest keen on Carmona and Sevilla wanting the Angola international, AS say ‘all roads lead to an agreement in a logical world’.

Vamos Mi Sevilla FC reports Sevilla are convinced with Nottingham Forest’s offer of €9m plus €2m bonuses for Carmona.

It’s claimed Nottingham Forest’s agreement with both the La Liga side and the Spaniard is well advanced and ‘everything could be finalised in the next few hours’. Marinakis’ close relationship with Cordón has been key for this operation.

The report suggests Carmo could join Sevilla as part of the operation to take Carmona to Nottingham Forest.

Both AS and Vamos Mi Sevilla FC don’t mention whether Sevilla are looking to sign Carmo on loan or a permanent transfer.
