Hull City have got off to an unbeaten Championship start, as they have secured four points in their opening two fixtures of the campaign.
The Tigers secured a 3-2 win over Oxford United in their last Championship fixture as Oli McBurnie scored a last-minute goal to secure all three points.
It was an extremely important victory after the East Yorkshire outfit struggled for home form last season, and now there is a little bit of positivity surrounding the club as their three-window transfer fee ban was reduced to two.
Nevertheless, Hull remain restricted to free agents and loan signings, meaning they lost out on a target from a Champions League side.
However, one loan deal they did get over the line was Joe Gelhardt from Leeds United despite competition from other Championship sides, and he has now explained exactly why he joined Hull.
The Hull City move was a ‘no-brainer’ for Joe Gelhardt
Joe Gelhardt joined Hull City for the second half of last season from Leeds United to help the Tigers battle and secure safety last season.
Now he has made a return to the Tigers for the upcoming season, already making an impact after scoring against Oxford United at the weekend, and in speaking to Hull Live, he confirmed that it was an easy decision to re-join the club despite interest from other clubs.
He said: “I think I had a few (offers), but as soon as my agent brought them up, I honestly just said no, I just want Hull again, so just try your best to make that happen, and he did so, to his credit.

“I heard the interest was there, my agent told me, and I’d spoken to the lads about the new manager, and they spoke very highly of him, so yeah, it was still a no-brainer for me to come here.
“I watched a few of the pre-season games, and there were good results. I like the way they played against Sunderland, who are Premier League opposition now. I still knew it was just Hull.”
Sergej Jakirovic was determined to bring Joe Gelhardt back to Hull City
While Sergej Jakirovic is just in the door for the upcoming campaign at Hull, and the fact that Gelhardt played under Ruben Selles last season while at the Tigers did not stop either individual from wanting to link up.
The new Hull City manager had made it clear that Gelhardt was a player he had his heart set on, as he explained this decision to Hull Live.
He said: “I asked so many times about him because in our situation with the embargo and everything else, he wanted to come to us.
“We need such a player, and there’s no adaptation time. The group likes him, and he knows our environment as well, so this is a very, very good choice for us.”
