Leon Bailey has sent an emotional message to Aston Villa in the wake of his departure for Roma.
The 28-year-old could sign for Roma permanently next summer as they hold an option to buy the Jamaica international for around £19 million.
Villa will receive a loan fee of roughly £2.5 million, taking the total potential value of the deal to £22 million.
Posting on Instagram, Bailey said: “Thank you Villans for all the love & support over the years, I will always keep you guys close to my heart.”
“Grateful for this new chapter, thank you for the warm welcome Roma,” he added.
Also posting on Instagram, Craig Butler said: “My son this has been a hard road yet I (sic) good one .
“Now we are in the beautiful city of Rome. Its city bleeds of courage, history and honour. Represent them and ASRoma well. With your heart and your wit. I have always believed that one day we would be here.”
“Looking forward to great things,” he added. “Also thank you to Monchi, Damian, Unai and the entire club at Aston Villa.”
