Leeds United told price of 11-goal striker – Deal could be close

Leeds United manager Daniel Farke has indicated that he wants to add one more striker to his squad before the end of the transfer window. The fitness concerns around some of his other options mean the German is keen to have more depth in the striker department.

The Whites secured the signature of former Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin on a free transfer last week. He signed a three-year deal with Leeds and will be expected to add goals and Premier League experience to the squad this season.

Leeds are also set to announce the arrival of AC Milan winger Noah Okafor for a deal worth up to £18m. The Swiss international underwent a medical with the club on Wednesday and is expected to be in the squad to take on Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium this Saturday.

Farke is aware that goals are going to be important if Leeds are to survive in the Premier League this season, and he wants as many goal scorers in his squad as possible before the window closes on September 1st.

Leeds United learn asking price for Nantes striker MatthisAbline

The 22-year-old French striker scored eleven goals last season for Nantes and was part of France’s Under-21 squad in the European Championship in Slovakia this summer.

He featured in Nantes’ opening fixture last weekend. But had a massive falling out with manager Luis Castro, who spent more than 10 minutes criticising the striker in front of his teammates following their game against Paris Saint-Germain.

Abline has told Nantes that he wants to leave the club before the transfer window closes on September 1st, and Leeds have been in touch with his representatives.

The 22-year-old wants a move, and according to RMC, Nantes want around £34.5m before agreeing to sanction his sale.

It means Leeds would have to fork out a club-record fee to sign the French striker if they make a concrete move to sign him in the next ten days.

Leeds’ transfer spend is set to go over the £90m mark once Okafor’s arrival gets confirmed later today. They still want another attacking midfielder and a full-back, in addition to the striker.

Leeds have the funds to sign a striker for big money

Leeds had an offer worth £32m turned down by Fulham for Rodrigo Muniz earlier in the summer, and they are unlikely to revive those negotiations as the Brazilian is likely to stay at Craven Cottage.

They signed Calvert-Lewin on a free transfer, and were always going to spend on a winger, with Okafor set to join the club for £18m.

Leeds still have the money to go out and buy a striker for a potential club-record fee if they believe a player is worth that money.

Paraag Marathe has teased more transfers, and it remains to be seen whether Leeds feel Abline is worth spending a club-record fee on.
