Newcastle United make attempt for young striker – Situation could be linked to Fulham

Last week, Gazzetta dello Sport claimed that Inter Milan’s Mehdi Taremi will join Fulham if he accepts a wage reduction. The move has not gone through yet but there are indications that the situation also involves Newcastle United.

Il Messaggero report today that the Nerazzurri are working on outgoings to make key signings late in the transfer window.

One player attracting major interest is young striker Francesco Pio Esposito. The newspaper claim Newcastle United and Atalanta have come forward for the 20-year-old.

Cristian Chivu’s side have rejected their approaches and have also declined Napoli’s €45m offer for the youngster.

Inter are clear about not selling Esposito and would rather sell Taremi.

The newspaper reports the Iran striker is waiting for Fulham to make the right offer for him and is interested in a switch to the London club.

The 33-year-old failed to make a mark for Inter in his first season at the club and his exit will free up some space in the Italian club’s wage budget.

Esposito is seen as the future of their frontline. This held back Newcastle United’s move for him, but can yet help Fulham in landing Taremi.
