Alexander Isak to Liverpool transfer latest - statement, Newcastle stance, teammate responds

Alexander Isak has broken silence on his situation at Newcastle United.

Alexander Isak has broken silence on his situation at Newcastle United.

The Alexander Isak transfer saga at Newcastle United took a dramatic turn when the Sweden striker broke his silence on the situation. Meanwhile, , admirers of the Swedish forward, have already had a

The Tyne and Wear side have made it clear that , who still has three years left on his contract, is not for sale. However, this has not stopped him from pushing for a move this transfer window - claiming that promises 'were broken.'

Despite the ongoing drama of this summer's main transfer saga and, Liverpool's opening bid being rejected, the Reds are still being linked with a move ahead of the September 1 deadline.

With that being said, the ECHO has taken a look at the latest developments in the fallout;

Isak's bombshell statement

"I've kept quiet for a long time while others have spoken," his post on Instagram read. "That silence has allowed people to push their own version of events - even though they know it doesn't reflect what was really said and agreed behind closed doors.

"The reality is that promises were made and the club has known my position for a long time.

"To now act as if these issues are only emerging is misleading.

"When promises are broken and trust is lost, the relationship can't continue, that's where things are for me right now - and why change is in the best interests of everyone, not just myself."

Sky Sports deal

Sky has slashed the price of its bundle for the 2025/26 season, saving members £192 and offering more than 1,400 live matches across the Premier League, EFL and more.

Sky will show at least 215 live Premier League games this season, an increase of up to 100 more.

In reply to Isak's statement, Newcastle issued their own official response. It read: "We are clear, in response, that Alex remains under contract - and that no commitment has ever been made by a club official that Alex can leave Newcastle United this summer.

"We want to keep our best players, but we also understand players have their own wishes and we listen to their views. As explained to Alex and his representatives, we must always take into consideration the best interests of Newcastle United, the team and also our supporters, in all decisions - and we have been clear that the conditions of a sale this summer have not transpired.

"We do not foresee those conditions being met.

"This is a proud football club with proud traditions and we strive to retain our family feel.

"Alex remains part of our family and will be welcomed back when he's ready to re-join his teammates."

Exit route blocked?

The Daily Mail's Craig Hope claims that any hope of Isak securing a move from St James' Park has been greatly reduced after his statement.

It's also been suggested that the Magpies will close the door on his exit after his public outburst drew a negative response from figures in the north east. The saga surrounding the feared talisman has now taken a decidedly sour turn.

Coincidently, Newcastle's first home game of the season is against Liverpool on Monday night!

Joelinton shows true colours

In the aftermath of Isak’s statement, Newcastle fan group Wor Flags took to Instagram.

The caption to the post is seemingly aimed at Isak. It read: "Idolised and adored. No promises broken by the fans that make this club. We deserve better than the destructive path you've chosen. Newcastle United will never be defeated."

Newcastle midfielder Joelinton liked the post - as fans expressed their discontent with the striker - while others praised the club's handling of the situation so far.
