Isaac Schmidt arrived at Leeds United towards the end of last summer and played 251 minutes from 14 games in his debut season at Elland Road.
The defender, who can operate both as a left and right-back, is keen on leaving Leeds for Werder Bremen. Two days ago, the German club’s head of football, Peter Niemeyer, said the 25-year-old wants to join his side this summer.
Daniel Farke wants the Whites to first sign his replacement before sanctioning a move.
Deichstube now report the latest on Werder Bremen’s pursuit of the fullback, who wants a move in this window.
The Bundesliga club have reached a ‘financial agreement’ with Leeds to sign him on loan. The report adds they have also agreed a purchase option, without mentioning the figure, with the Whites.
Werder Bremen have already scheduled flights for Schmidt to travel to Germany so that he can undergo medical and sign the contract. However, Leeds haven’t given the green light for him to travel as they haven’t signed his replacement yet.
With all parties in agreement for the transfer, Werder Bremen hope that this operation will eventually go through.
The Premier League newcomers’ approval is awaited. Deichstube say a deadline hasn’t been set, but the German club intensifying efforts to sign another fullback isn’t ruled out.
