“It’s not up for debate” – Alexander Isak shamed as Ally McCoist nails it

It looks like the latest stunt from Alexander Isak and his agent looks to have been just one step too far for not only our fans, but the club itself and the wider media as a whole.

Tuesday night’s social media outburst, where he argued it was best for both him and the club that he be allowed to leave this summer, has gone down like a lead balloon, with people practically queuing up to criticise the striker and his childish antics.

With less than two weeks to go until the end of the window, Isak has forced into a precarious situation where he remains adamant about not playing again, but his presence alone deters big strikers from joining us.

And former striker-turned-pundit Ally McCoist has had his say on the fiasco, saying that Isak has gone about this whole saga the completely wrong way.

Speaking to Alan Brazil on talkSPORT, Ally McCoist has massively let fans down with how he’s behaved over the last few weeks, saying he shouldn’t have done what he’s done regardless of how bad the situation has supposedly gotten for him.

“The right way to do it is you put in a transfer request, you have a chat with the manager and say ‘I want to play my football somewhere else’ and then the manager will then sit down and have a chat with you.”

“The way he (Isak) went about it, you could clearly see he had a problem with Newcastle or a problem with somebody at Newcastle. My argument is he still shouldn’t and can’t do what he did.”

Much like fellow footballers Yoane Wissa and later Wesley Fofana, Isak took to Instagram with a long statement saying that “when promises are broken and truth is lost, the relationship can’t continue.”

“Throwing the toys out of the pram is one thing, but actually making the statement that you’re not gonna play for the club again, and let yourself down and let the fans down, that’s where I’ve got a problem!”

“I understand he’ll feel let down Alan (Brazil), but we can argue with the rights and wrongs with the gentleman’s agreement, whose let him down, are they out of order, was it previous owners, do the new owners feel obliged to honour a gentleman’s agreement made by the previous owners? That’s all up for debate and that’s a conversation that we can and will have.”

“What’s not up for debate I don’t think, is him throwing the toys out the pram, and then saying I’m not playing for you anymore. He’s particularly let the fans down.”

Quickly releasing a statement on Tuesday night, the club reaffirmed its stance that Isak is not for sale, and that certain conditions must be met before we even consider Isak’s departure.

Isak is claiming that he has been mislead by the club and had previously been promised so much more by the previous regime, but McCoist clearly feels that none of this matters now as their are new personnel involved and Isak should still continue to honour the club.

Isak is burning bridges without a care for anyone but himself, so it’s hard to see how he comes back from this, especially when Howe prides himself on a tight-knit squad that don’t cater to bad eggs.
