After leaving Wolves, Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville predict if Matheus Cunha will be a ‘hit…

Whenever a player makes a big money move to a new side, they are going to have a lot of eyes on them, and former Wolves player Matheus Cunha is no different.

Cunha left Wolves in a £62.5 million deal after Manchester United activated his release clause, meaning the Old Gold lost their star forward.

His quality was evidently missed as Wolves slumped to a 4-0 defeat to Manchester City on the opening day of the Premier League.

And now Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville have had their say on whether the Brazilian will be the right fit for Manchester United.

Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville both agree Matheus Cunha will succeed at Manchester United

Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville don’t often agree and can usually be seen debating the hot topics in the world of football.

However, when it comes to Matheus Cunha’s future for Manchester United, they both believe the same thing.

Speaking on the Overlap podcast, Carragher and Neville both say that Cunha will be a “hit” for the Manchester side, as they went through each of the summer’s biggest deals so far.

Gary Neville goes on to say that he likes Cunha’s “personality”, and both Bruno Fernandes and Ruben Amorim have said the same about his character as well.

Last season, Matheus Cunha scored 15 Premier League goals, and if the Brazilian can get anywhere close to the same level of numbers, he will certainly go down as a success.

Matheus Cunha was one of Manchester United’s best players against Arsenal

Wolves fans will be no stranger to the quality that Matheus Cunha possesses, but his first introduction to life at Manchester United put even more eyes on him.

While Cunha topped a negative stat against Arsenal, his general performance was lively, and he was a constant danger throughout the match.

The forward completed four dribbles, the most of any player in the match, and his drives up the pitch were consistently getting Old Trafford on their feet.

The quality of Matheus Cunha is sorely missed at Wolves, and even though Jhon Arias and Fer Lopez have been signed as attacking reinforcements, the duo still need time to adapt to English football.

At the moment, there is still plenty of time for Wolves to strengthen, and Vitor Pereira knows he needs more signings, as the Old Gold hope to avoid falling into a relegation fight.
