Just in: Southampton in talks to sign 24-year-old star from Man City, they're open to loan or…

Southampton have held talks to sign Man City's Issa Kabore, with the Premier League club open to a sale, according to GIVEMESPORT correspondent Ben Jacobs.

It's been a slow start to the summer transfer window for the Saints, with speculation surrounding the future of some of their key stars. Damion Downs and Joshua Quarshie have arrived through the door so far, with a focus on getting rid of some of their current players. Kamaldeen Sulemana, Jan Bednarek, Samuel Amo-Ameyaw, Paul Onuachu, Aaron Ramsdale, and Kyle Walker-Peters are among those to have headed through the exit door.

Attention is starting to turn to bringing in new additions, as Southampton aim to bounce back to the Premier League at the first time of asking. Under new manager Will Still, Saints have enjoyed a reasonable start to the campaign, beating Wrexham at home before drawing away to Ipswich Town.

Reporting on X, Jacobs has confirmed that Kabore has held talks with Southampton over a potential move. Manchester City are open to a loan or a sale this summer, while other clubs, such as Lyon, are also interested.

"Issa Kabore has held talks with Southampton with Manchester City open to a loan or sale. Lyon are also interested. Hamburg had made an approach earlier in the window but are not an active suitor."

Kabore would likely come in and play on the right-hand side of defence for Southampton, although he has played slightly further forward at times during his career. Will Still has implemented a five-at-the-back system so far this season, which could suit Kabore for one of the wing-back options.
