Liverpool have enjoyed a thrilling transfer window so far as the Premier League champions have looked to further cement their status as England's most successful football club.

The Reds acted swiftly to overhaul Arne Slot's squad in his second campaign at the helm. Players like Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike and Milos Kerkez have joined the ranks, while Anfield has bid farewell to Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez and Trent Alexander-Arnold. Substantial changes have certainly been made as Liverpool aim to defend their title.

However, the closing days are expected to be just as busy, with all eyes on Alexander Isak and Slot's side even scheduled to meet his club Newcastle during this period on Monday night. The Reds remain poised to submit a bid but have yet to receive any encouragement from Newcastle to proceed.

Liverpool are also still in the hunt for a new defender - here's all the latest transfer news from Anfield.

Newcastle are seemingly desperate to hold onto their wantaway striker Isak, despite the 25-year-old goal machine making it perfectly clear he wants out, after accusing the club of breaking promises. In an explosive Instagram post, he said: "When promises are broken and trust is lost, the relationship can't continue. That's where things are for me right now - and why change is in the best interests of everyone, not just myself."

Newcastle hit back, with a statement that said: "As explained to Alex and his representatives, we must always take into consideration the best interests of Newcastle United, the team and our supporters in all decisions and we have been clear that the conditions of a sale this summer have not transpired. We do not foresee those conditions being met."

Circumstances could shift dramatically next summer, reports the Mirror. The Swedish striker still has three years left on his St James' Park deal, though if Liverpool can bide their time for another campaign, they'll have an excellent chance to secure their target.

This is due to the Lassana Diarra ruling and the temporary amendments to Article 17 of FIFA's Regulations on the Transfer and Status of Players. According to ESPN, this would allow Isak to transfer in a way more akin to an ordinary employee, without needing his club's approval.

Article 17 can be invoked within 15 days of the season's final match by players who have completed three years under contract at a club. This would permit Isak to leave in a unilateral breach of contract, with Newcastle still entitled to compensation.

The compensation amount would be an uncertain figure determined by FIFA's Football Tribunal's Dispute Resolution Chamber if clubs cannot reach an agreement. It could even result in Isak initially moving for free, while a compensation fee is negotiated in a process that could take between 18 months and two years.

Liverpool youngster Lewis Koumas is set to be the next player to permanently leave Anfield as Slot has given the green light for his departure.

The 19-year-old is being pursued by Birmingham City and Wrexham following a successful loan spell at Stoke City last season, according to Liverpool.com..

Newly promoted sides Sheffield United, Norwich City, Preston North End and Hull City are also interested. However, it's Birmingham and Wrexham who are leading the chase for Koumas.

The teenager was missing from the under-21s' Premier League 2 defeat at Leicester City on Monday evening and is expected to leave before the transfer deadline.

Sean Dyche has hinted that Crystal Palace may have backtracked on a supposed agreement to sell Marc Guehi this summer. The defender, 25, who is in the final year of his contract, has been attracting attention from Liverpool.

Speaking on the No Tippy Tappy Football podcast, Dyche stated: "When you make a lot of signings, you do the agreement for their contract, but we'll sort out a gentleman's agreement where we say we'll honour the player with an agreement off the record.

"Now you never know whether that's been said there. With Guehi, and I imagine this is what's happened, probably a year ago, they said, 'Look, we get it, you're going to stick with us'. And last summer, he stuck with it. Again at Christmas, he stuck with it. They might have said, 'By next summer, we'll know what's going to happen'.

"And if he's a good professional, which he seems fantastic to me, he doesn't want to go out there and start saying all that. But at one point, he might have to go, 'Hang on a minute, they told me that if we do this, this, and this, then they'll let me have my chance'."
