Leeds United have reached a 'financial agreement' with Werder Bremen for the loan exit of defender Isaac Schmidt.
Schmidt, 25, who joined Leeds in a £2.5million deal from St. Gallen last summer, was restricted to just 14 appearances and 251 minutes during his debut season at Elland Road.
Speculation then increased that Schmidt could be among those to leave the Whites, after just a year at the club, following their promotion back to the Premier League.
Bundesliga outfit Bremen have been chasing a move for Schmidt throughout the summer transfer window and now it appears they are finally going to get their man.
According to German outlet Deichstube, Werder have reached an agreement with Leeds to sign Schmidt on loan with an option to buy inserted into his contract.
It's added that Werder have already scheduled flights for Schmidt to travel to Germany so that he can undergo medical and put the finishing touches on the move. However, at this stage, Leeds haven't given the green light for Schmidt to travel as they haven't been able to sign his replacement yet.
But, with all parties in agreement about the terms of the proposed transfer, Werder hope that the operation will go through in due course. Schmidt, meanwhile, has made it clear his preference is to make the move to Werder.

Speaking on Werder's pursuit of Schmidt on Tuesday, the club's head of first-team football Peter Niemeyer said: "It is well known that we are interested in Isaac and that he can very well imagine a move to us."
Schmidt, who can be used on the left or right side of the back line, was not named in the 20-man Leeds squad to face Everton in their Premier League curtain-raiser on Monday. Gabriel Gudmundsson and Jayden Bogle started at full-back with Sam Byram preferred as the back-up on the bench.
Second-half substitute Lukas Nmecha proved to be the match-winner on the night as Leeds got their campaign off to a perfect start. The German slotted home a penalty in the 84th minute to secure a 1-0 win against the Toffees.
Delivering his reaction to his side's success over Everton, Farke said post-match: "I think overall in a tight game, a hard-fought win but also a well-deserved win from my side. Outstanding performance. I think we were very dominant in the first half and had nearly 70 per cent possession, 12 shots already in the first half.
"I was a bit worried because especially as a newly promoted side, once you have such a dominant period, and it was more or less the whole first half that we dominated, normally you have to reward yourself also with the goal because at Premier League level one little moment can change your whole momentum.
"An experienced side like Everton can come into the game and take advantage, score a goal, and then the whole story is more like you get praise for the performance, but no points on the board.
"So I am pretty pleased that we were able in the second half to reward ourselves with this goal and also to protect this clean sheet."
