Tottenham have suffered a massive setback in their efforts to land a replacement of James Maddison in the transfer window. The England international ruptured his ACL earlier this month in a pre-season friendly. And it has since been confirmed that the Spurs No.10 will miss most parts of the season as he starts his recovery following a successful operation.

As per Fabrizio Romano, Spurs have identified Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers as the perfect candidate to replace James Maddison for this season. Talking on his YouTube channel, Romano said,
“They started making some calls today to try to understand the situation for new players to add to their squads. One of the dream targets they have at Tottenham internally is Morgan Rogers at Aston Villa.”
The journalist added,
“But it is seen as a very difficult deal because Villa don’t want to lose the player. People in the industry believe that this deal is almost impossible for Morgan Rogers, but I can tell you Tottenham are thinking about him as a perfect candidate.”
Fabrizio Romano indicates that Tottenham have already started their search for a new #10, and the club have identified Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers as their ‘dream’ target. However, the journalist adds that sealing the deal to land the England international will not be easy and Aston Villa do not intend on selling him. Romano also suggests that Spurs rate Rogers highly and view him as a ‘perfect candidate’ to play under Thomas Frank in the attacking midfield role.
