A 14-year-old girl has been arrested on suspicion of arson after a fire at Woolton Hall, a Grade I-listed manor house in Liverpool.
Merseyside Police described the blaze, which occurred on Tuesday evening, as an "extremely reckless act", noting reports of a large number of youths gathering nearby.
The arrested girl was taken into custody for questioning and has since been conditionally bailed.
Detective Inspector Daniel McWhinnie stated the police are determined to find all those responsible for the fire at the historic 1704 building.
Police are appealing for anyone who was present, knows who was there, or parents whose children were out that night to come forward.
