Aston Villa flop Carles Gil has revealed how his teammates were left gunning for him behind the scenes after he skipped post-match media duties at the club.
[FOX Deportes](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D7OqhNUVBXE) have an interview with the midfielder today in which he discusses various topics regarding his career, including his ill-fated spell at Aston Villa.
He moved to Villa Park in a €4.2m move in January 2015, leaving his boyhood club Valencia in the hope of making it in the Premier League.
Gil made a positive first impression at the club bagging his first assists in a 2-1 loss to Chelsea in his third game but after five straight losses in a Villa shirt, he found himself on the bench and didn’t make another appearance for Villa that season after a 2-1 loss to Stoke City in which he was substituted in the 58th minute.
He spent the next five games on the bench and was then missing from the squad entirely, reappearing in a 22-minute appearance against Sunderland the following season.
The Spaniard’s time at Villa Park ended with a tally of 34 appearances, three goals and three assists and isn’t fondly remembered by anyone who was present at the time.
That includes Gil, who admits his actions behind the scenes also ended up infuriating his teammates.
_“I have enough to write a book in those few months,”_ he said.
_“I remember, a game ended, and I quickly went to the shower and left, and I was playing with Carlos Sánchez, and I remember he started calling me._
_“Where were you? The coach was looking for you for the post-match chat to commentate on the game and everything. Oh, I’m at home. I don’t know what, and the next day, ugh, I had to apologise. The English players didn’t understand. In training they wanted to kill me.”_
