Two-time NBA All-Star and NBA champion Jrue Holiday believes Payton Pritchard is the toughest player to guard on the Boston Celtics.
While Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown are widely considered the best players on the Boston Celtics, they might not necessarily be the toughest to guard.
Six-time NBA All-Defensive Team guard Jrue Holiday believes Sixth Man of the Year Payton Pritchard is actually the toughest opponent he’s had to guard on the Celtics.
"It might be Payton [Pritchard]," Holiday said on Run It Back TV. "There’s this drill we have where you have to dribble against Payton full-court. He just goes crazy—speed, handle, low to the ground so he can body you. Stops on a dime. Payton’s cold, bro."
Holiday spent two seasons in Boston alongside Pritchard, starting ahead of him in the rotation.
Over those two seasons, Holiday averaged 11.8 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game on 46.4% shooting.
Meanwhile, Pritchard enjoyed a breakout campaign this past season, posting averages of 14.3 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and a career-high 28.4 minutes per game.
