Hugo Viana's greatest Man City achievement is now very obvious after what Pep Guardiola has…

Hugo Viana has been the star performer of Manchester City’s summer transfer window.

The Portuguese Director of Football had the daunting task of having to take over from Txiki Begiristain at the Etihad Stadium, and with Pep Guardiola wanting four to five new players added to his squad before the current transfer window opened, the 42-year-old has delivered.

Man City’s 4-0 win over Wolves proved Viana got his targets right, as Tijjani Reijnders stole the show at Molineux, while Rayan Cherki, James Trafford and Rayan Ait-Nouri all stepped up for the Manchester club.

The Director of Football has also helped Man City bring in important funds through selling stars, but all this pales in comparison to a future bit of business the former midfielder could achieve.

A Pep Guardiola extension would be Hugo Viana’s greatest achievement at Man City

Guardiola renewed his Man City contract back in November, which will keep him at the Etihad Stadium until 2027, but after that, the future of the legendary coach remains uncertain.

It was recently reported that Guardiola plans to quit club football once his contract with Man City finishes in two seasons, which has been 100% decided already.

However, speaking to Men in Blazers recently, the legendary coach seems to have opened the door to staying a little longer.

“I have two more years. So I may extend two more years. So the question is, when I will stop seeing this year, then in two years or in four years, I will take a break,” Guardiola said.

“But now, I feel fine, I would say. They give me the team, give me good vibes, it started from the World Cup in the United States. That we create something, it’s just something that I like. I like it, like we missed it last season.”

It seems that the new faces that Viana has brought to Man City over the summer have given Guardiola a new lease of life, and if the Portuguese director can somehow convince him to sign another extension, that would undoubtedly be his biggest achievement, no matter what he goes on to do in Manchester.

What is Pep Guardiola expected to do

Although it is clear that Guardiola will take a break once his time at Manchester City is up, it is not entirely certain when that will be.

The expectation is that the legendary coach’s current contract will be his last one, and after his planned break, the Spaniard will return to management on the international stage.

Winning the World Cup as a manager is one of the last things the 54-year-old has to achieve as a manager, having conquered Spain, Germany and England throughout his career.

2027 looks like the perfect time for Guardiola to call time on his Man City career, but fans of the Premier League club will not say no to a further two years if that is the legendary figure’s wish.
