Douglas Luiz transfer to Nottingham Forest takes big step closer, he's on his way

The saga involving Douglas Luiz and Nottingham Forest is now drawing to a close.

Forest have agreed a deal to sign Douglas Luiz from Juventus in a deal that will see him join initially on loan and then make it permanent should certain performance-related clauses be met across the season.

The 27-year-old signed for Juve for £43 million last summer, but after failing to make an impact, Forest, led by Marinakis, have agreed a deal to sign Luiz.

Now, it would appear that things are getting ever closer, with Forest set to complete arguably their best signing of a fruitful summer transfer window.

Douglas Luiz boards plane in Turin ahead of Forest move

This one now looks to be moving very quickly, with Luiz this morning spotted arriving at Turin Airport ahead of a move to Forest.

Luiz is returning to England after a single season out in the cold at Juventus and clearly, the Premier League will be a challenge he looks forward to once again.

The midfielder arrived at the airport this morning with some sizeable bags and his entourage behind him, ready to fly to England to sign for Forest.

Luiz’s arrival at Forest will make it the third time lucky for Head of Football Operations, Edu, who tried to take him twice when he was working for Arsenal.

Luiz could be a game-changing Forest signing

The player will hope to get his medical and paperwork done in time to be in the matchday squad at Crystal Palace at the weekend.

At 27, Forest are not only signing a player who has over 200 appearances to his name with Aston Villa, but also in a deal that allows the Reds to take a look at Luiz first.

Taking him on loan with obligations to buy him based on performance means that Forest won’t face competition if he takes the Premier League by storm, but also means no payment will show on this year’s PSR cycle.

This deal now looks to finally be drawing to a close and given his ability to play either as a number eight or a number six, makes him a very attractive signing indeed.
