The Indianapolis Colts have made a decision on their starting quarterback for the 2025 season.
Fans and people around the NFL didn’t seem to agree with it, but they have named Daniel Jones their starting quarterback over Anthony Richardson.
Richardson, of course, was the No. 4 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, a player with immense upside who has struggled with injuries over the past two seasons.
His draft capital alone would, in theory, lend itself to a longer leash, but the Colts seem to firmly believe that Jones is the right man for the job, at least to start the year.
Jones showed some potential in the early days of his career as a member of the New York Giants, but his standing among his peers has not held up since then.
People have been itching to know if this decision was made based on poor play from Richardson, spectacular play from Jones, or a mixture of the two, and quarterbacks coach Cameron Turner gave an answer in a recent press conference.
“I feel like I’ve tried everything I can, and I feel like he’s giving great effort in that aspect, too. I just think, right now, the consistency is not where we wanted it to be,” Turner said of Richardson.

Turner indicated that Richardson has been putting in the work, doing what’s necessary to succeed as a starting quarterback.
In his mind, he’s doing all he can as a coach, and Richardson is doing all he can to take steps in the right direction.
Unfortunately, Turner pointed to Richardson’s inconsistencies as a big weakness in his game, at least at the moment.
Richardson has displayed a cannon for an arm when given the opportunity, but throwing the ball deep isn’t enough.
He’ll have to get more consistent and accurate if he wants a chance to become a long-term starter in this league.
