Tottenham ahead of Newcastle United, two other PL clubs in race to sign 22-year-old Italian…

Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing 22-year-old Italian full-back Nicolo Savona from Juventus in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by La Valle, as relayed by Sport Witness, Nicolo Savona is the subject of interest from Tottenham Hotspur. The Lilywhites are surprisingly keen on reinforcing their defensive unit by signing a versatile full-back in the summer transfer window. So, the 22-year-old Juventus wide player has emerged as a target for the Tyneside outfit.

The 2024/25 UEFA Europa Leaguw winners are not alone in the battle for Savona’s services, with Bournemouth, Newcastle United, and Wolverhampton Wanderers also keen on landing him in the summer transfer window. However, the report has pointed to Tottenham “leading a Premier League pack” for the youngster’s signature.

Nicolo Savona and his career so far

Nicolo Savona has established himself as one of the most promising young defenders in Serie A since breaking into the first-team squad at Juventus. The Aosta native spent most of his formative years at Juventus, rapidly progressing through the ranks at the Italian club before breaking into the first-team squad at the onset of the 2024/25 season.

The Italian defender has made his mark thus far for Juventus, turning out 40 times while chipping in with two goals and one assist. Meanwhile, Savona’s progress has piqued the attention of several high-profile clubs. Premier League outfits, in particular, are keen on signing the Italian full-back, with Tottenham and Newcastle United among the prospective suitors vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.

Premier League move on the horizon?

Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in Nicolo Savona is perplexing. The Lilywhites do not need a new right-back, considering Pedro Porro is the undisputed first-choice wing-back on the right flank. Additionally, Djed Spence has made considerable progress in the last 12 months, and he recently signed a new contract with Tottenham. Nevertheless, Savona is a target for the North London club.

As for Newcastle United, Kieran Trippier is on the wrong side of 30, and the veteran English full-back is approaching the twilight of his career. Additionally, Trippier faces an uncertain future at St. James’ Park, with recent reports linking him with AS Monaco. So, Newcastle United can do with a new right-back to compete with Livramento.

The 22-year-old Italian wide player is also a target for Bournemouth and Wolverhampton Wanderers. However, with Tottenham “leading the Premier League pack” chasing Savona’s signature, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for the Juventus whizkid.
